Landforms

We met in science class

We learned about the terrain
below our feet as we walked,
slowly before parting ways.

We learned about the mountains
we’d conquer one day if,
we followed our dreams of going places.

We learned about the stratums,
each experience compressed into
a layer that made us who we are.

We learned about the valleys,
how low places can’t get lower,
I shared my story of triumph.

We learned about the compressional stress,
we exposed ourselves to by,
holding ourselves to a standard.

We met in science class two years ago
while we strived for that degree
we formed our own middle ground.
