An Old Pearl Diver

An old pearl diver
sold his pearls
every Tuesday
at the market.
With each pearl
he told the story,
about he found
that one.
They each began
with him leaving
shore unaware
of where he’d go.
He once lost his way
but was guided by
the stars to the rarest
pearl of all.
Which now rests
around his wife’s neck
as a reminder of her
old pearl diver.
