War.

Boots hit the ground
running towards doom,
without a second thought,
they fight another person’s war.

Men screaming for their life
brother gave the ultimate sacrifice,
for their loved ones to sleep
peacefully.

A mother weeps,
the wife holds a flag in place,
of her fallen husband.

The survivors didn’t leave untouched,
for their wounds cannot be seen.
Their country ‘thanks’ them,
as the war haunts them.

No matter what side you’re on,
there is no winner in war.
